Today I climbed Mt Si with Cindy, the woman who had had met at the meeting. It was great to get to know someone in the group and we ran into other climbers from the fundraiser. They unfortunatley shamed me with their 35 lb packs and trekking poles, but Cindy's positive attitude of taking one day at a time is helping to keep me grounded. (However a few runners breezed past us and i had to hate them a little bit for mocking me with the ease of their ascent.) I felt pretty accomplished at the top, as the last mile was through snow.
Seles accompanied me again and enjoyed herself immensely. She was out of luck for water at the top and so i had to share mine. Fortunately Cindy had an extra bottle so that i didnt have to drink out of the dog slobber one. I need to remedy the water situation before i take Seles again. The weather was the only thing that didnt cooperate. It was in the 30's and rained the whole time. I was so muddy when we got down, but was able to stay dry for the most part. Coming down still seems to be the tricky part, but my knees are feeling better. I still am waiting for the climb where there is a zip line at the top to get you back down, however i am not holding my breath. |
