After a long, sleepless night due to some cat and mouse issues, i was late to hit the moutain. The AK's had left, but Cindy (THANKS!) so graciously waited for me. We also met up with a late AK, John who hiked with us for the first mile while i shot off questions about the climb. Due to my adrenaline from running late, i powered up the first mile. Unfortunately for Cindy I had cut weight, she had added. About 2 and 1/2 miles up the exhaustion set in along with the frustration. I had a hard time managing the emotions that seem to be running me. I recognized that although it sucked, that knowing i could fight through those feelings would be a good experience to have when i was on the mountain. We got to the top in time to see the AK's heading down. But we made it up in 2:20-pretty good for pygmys! I was a happy camper on the way down, which is usually the worst part for me. I think i had wasted the misery on the way up. I was surprised how many people were already out on the trail this time of year-i wonder how bad it will get-
I left Si and headed off to see my dad race at SIR. I was delirious and ate a jar of pickles. Went to bed as soon as it was dark. |
